Conjunctions of the Self and Space is an ongoing photo series that explores the phenomenological relationship held between the Individual and the particular environments in which they occupy. By photographing myself in a variety of locations, I strive to unveil the complexities of emotion and memory that are tied to the places that we inhabit or simply pass through. From quiet fields blanketed in snow, to rooms with dark wooden walls and heavenly beams of light, these works serve as passageways for the viewer into a multitude of environments. Each of them is charged with emotion and evocative of my own memories. While each image is specific to me, they remain semi-ambiguous so that the viewer is allowed to experience an array of their own emotion, alongside those expressed by the photographs’ subject. The ultimate goal of this series is to inspire viewers to consider their own relationships to space and the world around them. Take a step back. What do you see? What do you feel? Look at what surrounds you. Do not forget these moments.
